Another community in the rural county of Muranga, Kenya, the Kakuku Cooperative grows mango trees throughout the area’s hills. The women who live here are from the Kikuyu and Kamba tribes, both of whom have a long tradition of farming.

Mangoes are harvested between April and August and require a lot of care and tenderness for them to produce the quality and quantity needed. Four different languages are spoken in this region, including the official national languages of English and Kiswahili as well as the more regional languages of Kikuyu and Kikamba.
